At least Lohan isn’t a terrorist bomber
We see a lot of press around here about all the bad behavior from Hollywood stars–Lindsey Lohan’s drugs & drinking problems, Paris Hilton’s inability to obey traffic laws, Mel Gibson’s anti-semitic rants, and so on. But while Hollywood stars may be annoying, at least they aren’t muderous terrorist bombers like Bollywood star Sanjay Dutt.
What’s interesting is that despite a […]
What a difference I-64 makes
I know there’s people who say we should get rid of I-64 entirely from downtown Louisville. But I am sure glad that the Restore 64 project finished early so that all the downtown traffic could get back onto the highway.
Market Street has been a mess during this entire construction project. Thankfully I haven’t had to […]
Hawaiian Sundae ice cream is the bomb
I don’t know that I’ve seen this brand before, the label just says Premium Homemade Ice Cream. It’s probably been there all along and I just never noticed it. Until last week when there was a big sale at Meijer, half-off.
So I browsed the selection and saw a flavor that sounded intriguing, Hawaiian Sundae. The […]
Summer is photography high season
I’d love to see a graph at Flickr showing the number of photo posts per day. Like a stock-market ticker kind of display. Because I’m betting that there would be a large spike in new photos during the summer months.
At least, judging from the photo stream coming out of my contacts. I’ve definitely been seeing […]
Kentucky is a red state on the obesity scale as well
Kentucky’s fairly conservative, Louisville notwithstanding. On the political maps this means it’s a red state. Turns out CNN also used red to indicate the states with the highest obesity rates. So when you view their obesity map and click on the most recent year, 2004. Kentucky is a nice bright shade of red.
Doesn’t really surprise […]
Switching blood-pressure meds
I had my annual check-up with the doctor, and he says there’s only two things that were worth mentioning–my triglycerides are too high, and my blood pressure is also too high. The triglycerides he wants me to attack via diet–cut down the fats, try to lose another 10 pounds. He says that should be enough to […]
Spidey 3 better than I expected
Spider-Man 3 became the first of three big May blockbusters to reach the discount theater here in Louisville last week. So despite my reservations, I decided to see it last night at the 9:40 p.m. showing. And it turned out to be better than I had expected.
Now part of that of course is the fact […]
Creek sauce should be required for fried green tomatoes
The cafeteria downstairs where I work is not bad, if you ever visit the National City Tower around lunchtime you might give them a try. A couple days ago they had the fried catfish, which I got with two sides–the peach cobbler and the fried green tomatoes.
Now these fried green tomatoes (FGT) weren’t bad at all–just like […]
Wild Oats may stay open after all
I had thought that once Whole Foods completed their purchase of Wild Oats, the combined company would probably shut down the Wild Oats store here in Louisville. It was just too close to the larger and better-situated Whole Foods store.
However it looks like there’s a good chance the merger may fall apart due to some […]
Business 2.0 may join Red Herring on the scrap heap
It is looking like Time, Inc. may shut down their Business 2.0 magazine as early as September. Where it would join another of the rags partly responsible for the over-hype of the Internet bubble, Red Herring.
While I hate to see any traditional media company get knifed by the migration of advertising to the Internet, I […]
