Hawaiian Sundae ice cream is the bomb
July 29, 2007I don’t know that I’ve seen this brand before, the label just says Premium Homemade Ice Cream. It’s probably been there all along and I just never noticed it. Until last week when there was a big sale at Meijer, half-off.
So I browsed the selection and saw a flavor that sounded intriguing, Hawaiian Sundae. The label said it had pineapple, coconut, and cashews. Sounded good, and the price was right, so I bought a container. And now I’m hooked.
It has got to be one of the best ice creams I’ve ever had. Not quite as good as Ben & Jerry’s Rainforest Crunch, which unfortunately is on the flavor graveyard and no longer available. But this Hawaiian Sundae is pretty damned good — the little coconut bits are crunchy, the pineapple bits are sweet, and the cashews are salty and crunchy. It’s a nice taste and texture combination.
Since then I’ve noticed this brand available at Wal-Mart Supercenters and at Krogers. However this particular flavor I’ve only seen so far at the Meijer.
