Hawaiian Sundae ice cream is the bomb

July 29, 2007

I don’t know that I’ve seen this brand before, the label just says Premium Homemade Ice Cream.  It’s probably been there all along and I just never noticed it.  Until last week when there was a big sale at Meijer, half-off.

So I browsed the selection and saw a flavor that sounded intriguing, Hawaiian Sundae.  The label said it had pineapple, coconut, and cashews.  Sounded good, and the price was right, so I bought a container.  And now I’m hooked.

It has got to be one of the best ice creams I’ve ever had.  Not quite as good as Ben & Jerry’s Rainforest Crunch, which unfortunately is on the flavor graveyard and no longer available.  But this Hawaiian Sundae is pretty damned good — the little coconut bits are crunchy, the pineapple bits are sweet, and the cashews are salty and crunchy.  It’s a nice taste and texture combination.

Since then I’ve noticed this brand available at Wal-Mart Supercenters and at Krogers.  However this particular flavor I’ve only seen so far at the Meijer.
