My first $40 fill-up

November 10, 2007

Well with the price of gas over $3 / gallon it was probably inevitable that I’d have my first $40 fill-up.  Normally though I don’t wait for the tank to get this empty, but I had to put in almost 14 gallons.  So I easily topped the $40 mark.

Luckily, I’m not filling up as often as I used to.  My employer pays for a free bus pass, which I can use even on weekends.  Not that I do, but I do use it on most week days to get to work.  It’s easier on the wallet, on the environment, and on my stress levels.  A win all around.

It does take about 15 minutes longer, from the moment I exit the house to the moment I enter the office building downtown.  But that’s okay, the nice thing is it forces me to leave at a specific time in the afternoon.  No staying late at work, I gotta go catch that bus.

And now with gas rising the 15 minutes extra I spend getting to work is worth the money I’m saving.
